International Transport Procedure

   We transport dogs and cats in friendly conditions, within the country and in the EU. With us, your animals arrive safely and comfortably through the pet transport service provided by Transylvanian Pet Express.

  •  There are some mandatory requirements for your pet to be able to travel to the desired destination.

  • To avoid any problems or cancellation of your reservation, please read the following information carefully.

Conditions of transport

  • Each pet, dog or cat, can travel abroad only accompanied by one valid International Pet Passport.

  • The minimum age required to travel abroad is 4 months or more precisely,  15 weeks.

  • Vaccination against rabies as well as microchipping and registration  in the animal system are mandatory.

  • The date of microchipping must be at least one day before the date of administration of the rabies vaccine. The minimum age required for the rabies vaccine is 12 weeks old.

  • Between the date of the rabies vaccination and the scheduled date of travel must be at least 21 days.

  • Internal and external deworming are mandatory  24 hours before departure.

  • Clinical examination performed by the veterinarian who prepares the passport is also mandatory before departure. The veterinarian is the one who determines whether your pet is fit for a long-term trip.

  •  All information regarding rabies vaccination, microchipping, external and internal deworming, the clinical examination must be found registered in the International Pet Passport, under the signature and initials of the veterinarian.

  • Health certificate of the animal should accompany the passport, if the data of the other vaccinations and deworming are included in it.

  • Sick animals will not be allowed on transport, animals with recent surgeries or whose health may deteriorate during the journey.

  • Animals under treatment or those with special needs, will be able to travel with us only accompanied by a medical letter signed and initialed by a veterinarian.

  • If your pet is following a treatment, administering medication can be done during the trip if necessary.

  • Please communicate us any special needs or information about your animal's behavior in order to have time to organize its journey in the best conditions.

  • 7 days prior to the planned date of travel we need all the information from your animal's Pet Passport, to be able to register the data in the TRACES system.

Other travel informations

  • For the comfort of your animals, our Mercedes Sprinter van, manufactured in 2020, is soundproof and thermally insulated, so that stress during the journey is reduced to a minimum.

  • The van is also equipped with a cooling and heating system, thus ensuring a constant temperature inside.  The temperature is constantly monitored from the driver's cabin.

  • Artificial lighting is provided throughout the journey.

  • The animals travel in individual compartments,  except for the puppies that are siblings, but no more than 2 in the same compartment.

  • The van has individual compartments of different sizes, to ensure the comfort of your pets according to their size.

  • Every compartment has bowls for food and water, the presence of them are very important to prevent dehydration during transport.
